Guest Blog Celebrating British Cheese Week at The Kitchen
As the supplier of cheese to the kitchen at Farnborough, Jo has asked me to take over her blog for this week as part of a celebration at The Kitchen for British Cheese Week. My name is Simeon from Fromage to Age.
British cheese week starts with the British Cheese Awards which are held at the Royal Bath and West Show. As an awards judge, I get to sample a wonderful array of different British cheeses followed by an awards dinner in the evening. The dinner is always a fantastic feast especially as the hugest cheeseboard is made up of the previous years winners.
This year both the supreme champion and reserve champion, Cropwell Bishop’s Shropshire Blue and St Thom by Haydn Roberts respectively, are cheeses we supply, always reassuring that I’m doing something right. We have championed Haydn’s cheeses for a while as we believe that he is an exceptionally talented maker.
Thankfully there are many wonderfully gifted makers in the UK turning out some incredible creations so we are spoilt for choice.
The cheeses currently on the menu at the kitchen reflect a few of the great cheeses available in this country and feature a range of cheeses in a 50 mile radius of Farnborough and I will be working with Anthony and Jo to do a special cheeseboard of this years winners.
